Brother's Birthdays!

I haven't been online in almost a week! Wow It feels weird, I should let the computer konk out on me more often, but I missed you all so much!

Well some big things happened this week for me anyway. First my brother David had his 19th birthday and is kinda bummed that he's not on his mission yet. But what can you say, gotta earn that money first kiddo! But he's going to make a AWESOME missionary! He has a great mind and a determined spirit. His testimony gives mine strength and I can see his not only speaks on his beliefs but acts upon them as well. When he was born I was just getting to an age when I could really help my parents out with the baby so my mother, with just having given birth to her fourth child, (David) let me, (an eight year old) take care of David lots. I know I cant take any of the credit but I love seeing the man he's becoming! Here's to David, may he leave for his mission in 2009!!!

This one was for the fun of it!!! Here's for the ladies! HA!

My next thing this week was a day later when my brother Philip had his 25th birthday! Yes my brother's b-days are only a day apart! Even though one is 25 and the other 19. Funny? We think so! Well as anyone can see in my earlier posts, Philip is in Bagdad right now. I'm sure he is kinda wondering where his package is but I was late getting it out! BLAH!
Philip can put a smile on anyone's face, he's always been the funniest, loudest, and outrageous kid of all us kids! I miss him more every day. It doesn't help that Liza is walking in all his footsteps, she's very much the ma-ma's girl, and is addicted to her blanket, JUST like her gunckle Lup. It also doesn't help that she has his ears!
I was thinking about him in the Army and I realized it was easy for him to get in, all he had to do was say, "Rebekah is my big sister!" Then they would be like, "WOW! Anyone who can put up with that kind of torture we'll take!" SO for everyone's enjoyment here's more torture for Philip, don't worry I didn't put in the one where I dressed him up as a girl.

Happy Birthday Spud-Head!

Family Home Evening Treats

There just nothing like the hot fudge sunday F.H.E treat! I think the girls liked it too.

Mae's Faces

In school we were looking at different emotions and the faces we make with them. Here's the Mae-Bug's interpretation:

HAPPY FACE

SCARY FACE

SAD FACE

SILLY FACE

MAD FACE

Lots of funnies

Okay I know I've been posting alot of jokes lately, but I keep finding such good ones! I have to share! I really need to catch up on my "Lovies" blogs though. But here's another good one, yes I found it on another blog but as I said, I must share the laughter!!!

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon."

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. "Good morning, Ma'am", he said, "I've come to..."

"Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been expecting you."

"Have you really?" said the photographer. "Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?"

"Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat".

After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?"

"Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there."

"Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!"

"Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we t ry several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results."

"My, that's a lot!", gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that."

"Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus," he said.

"Oh, my God!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

"And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with."

"She was difficult? " asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look"

"Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes", the photographer replied. "And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in."

Mrs Smith leaned forward. "Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?"

"It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we c an get to work right away."

"Tripod?"

"Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long."

Mrs. Smith fainted

Jess has the bed next to mine!

The Bathtub Test

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director how do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

'Well,' said the Director, 'we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub.'

'Oh, I understand,' said the visitor. 'A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup.'

'No.' said the Director, 'A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?'

ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON, OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE ?

Got this idea from Jess...

Outside my Window...The leaves are changing to red, yellow, and gold. The nights are cooler, and the college students have returned!

I am thinking...I should get off blogging and go to bed, but since this is the only place in the house that has my music, I'm going to sit here and jam!

From the learning room...Crayons, paper, stickers, books, puzzles, blocks......

I am thankful for...Realizing today that I really am grateful for this time period in my life instead of thinking of all the negative things that are going on right now.

From the kitchen...Ice cream in the freezer, calling to me, eat me! (The kitchen is actually clean today, wow.)

I am wearing... reindeer p.j.'s, yeah its late.

I am reading...everyone else's blogs.

I am hoping...that we can keep our goals for the rest of the year! ("No Ice Cream! Bad Ice Cream!")

I am creating...a happy environment for my children. If mama isn't happy, no one is happy.

I am hearing...Old 80's and REM songs, he-he.

Around the house...everyone is quiet and peaceful and happy.

One of my favorite things...writing, photography. (Oh I've got LOTS more!)

A few plans for the rest of the week...Try to save enough money to go see Shelly this week-end in GA. (Need GAS money!!!)

These made me laugh so hard I had to post them.

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother's lap and walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man's, he said, 'I know how you feel. My mom makes me ride in the stroller too.'.

As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them.

Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. 'In ten years,' I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends and you won't go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now.
'

Carolyn shrugged. 'In ten years you'll be too old to do all those things anyway.

Working as a pediatric nurse, I had the difficult assignment of giving immunization shots to children. One day I entered the examining room to give four-year-old Lizzie her needle. 'No, no, no!' she screamed.

'Lizzie,' scolded her mother, 'that's not polite behavior.
'

With that, the girl yelled even louder, 'No, thank you! No, thank you!

My wife left the car unattended for only a minute, but it was long enough for our two-year-old to climb in, throw the car into reverse and crash into a lamppost. He was fine, but the car wasn't.

I had a hard time explaining who was behind the wheel to the insurance company.
After a pause, the adjuster asked, 'Do you let him drive often?'

One afternoon while I was visiting my library, I noticed a group of preschoolers gathered for story time. The book they were reading was There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.
After the librarian finished the first page, she asked the children, 'Do you think she'll die?'

'Nope,' a little girl in the back said. 'I saw this last night on Fear Factor.

My sister had been ill, so I called to see how she was doing. My ten-year-old niece answered the phone 'Hello,' she whispered.

'Hi, honey. How's your mother?' I asked. 'She's sleeping,' she answered, again in a whisper.

'Did she go to the doctor?' I asked.
'

Yes. She got some medicine,' my niece said softly.

'Well, don't wake her up. Just tell her I called.
What are you doing, by the way?'

Again in a soft whisper, she answered, 'Practicing my trumpet.

On a brutally humid day, I walked past a miniature golf course and saw a dad following three small children from hole to hole. 'Who's winning?' I shouted.

'I am,' said one kid.

'Me,' said another.

'No, me,' yelled the third.

Sweat dripping down his face, the dad gasped, 'Their mother is.

On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson asked my son the question. 'Dad, I know that babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?' he asked innocently.

After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust. 'You don't have to make something up Dad. It's ok if you don't know the answer.
"

She's amazing.

I made Mae watch this and when it was over Mae says, "I don't like her." When asked why Mae did not answer but later in the day I heard her singing the song over the rainbow to herself! I think Mae, not normally a jealous kid, was a little envious! My, My!
